DarkSky.net Viewer (formerly Forecast.io Viewer) is a simple wrapper for the DarkSky.net mobile website, which provides hyper-local weather forecasts. This is the same service that powers the popular Dark Sky app on iOS and Android (I highly recommend you check out the official app!).
I created DarkSky.net Viewer because I prefer the mobile DarkSky.net website to most of the third-party weather apps currently available on Android, and prefer using it as its own “app” instead of a tab in Chrome. I hope you enjoy it, as well, though you should note that Dark Sky now has an official app in Google Play!
If you run into any trouble, please email me with information about your device, Android version, and exactly what is going wrong. I have a very limited number of Android devices to test on; theoretically the app should run just about anywhere, but older versions of Android may exhibit poor behavior due to outdated browsers.
* Internet: DarkSky.net is a website; obviously you cannot view it if you cannot connect to the internet
* Location: necessary if you want to have DarkSky.net automatically determine your location (although this works poorly for some devices! My advice is to use the official app, or manually enter your location instead)
This app is available as open source if you want to hack it: https://github.com/onecrayon/forecastio-viewer
Forecast.io, Dark Sky, and all related icons are all rights reserved by Forecast.io; neither One Crayon nor Forecast.io Viewer are affiliated or endorsed by the team at Forecast.io.
* Swapped website from forecast.io to darksky.net (forecast.io is deprecated and will likely disappear at some point in the future)
* Updated minimum Android API
Thanks for the bug reports everyone! Let me know if you run into any issues with the new website.
